Death Valley Video
Last week I gave myself an assignment: create a 2-minute video that combines:
Film footage I captured in Death Valley with my new Nikon Z8 camera
An original music composition inspired by the desert (which I created in only 48 hours!!)
And written words to provide a narrative arch to the video
The Beautiful Valley of Death
So I just spent the last 3 weeks traveling across New Mexico and California. Spring has sprung, and it was gorgeous! ☀️ I believe these are some of the most beautiful and photographic parts of the country. Perhaps you’ll agree after seeing a few of the images I was fortunate to capture in Santa Fe, at Stanford, and in the photographer’s paradise: Death Valley. I’m also working on a video short featuring footage from all three locations. Until then, here’s a sneak peek of some of my stills from the trip….
“Emma”, a new song I’m exploring
Inspired by the photograph above I took of a young Singaporean lady ascending a mysterious stairway to the unknown, I set out to explore a new musical landscape that is a bit more pop than I’ve allowed myself in the past.
What’s coming next
After my retirement announcement last week, many folks reached out wanting to know what's next for me. So I shot this short video below that sheds some light on this next chapter in my life.
Biggest reason I retired “early”
Following my retirement announcement earlier this week, a bunch of people reached out to me because they were surprised ("you're too young!") and wanted to better understand what drove the decision. So I shot this short video to outline the biggest reason I decided to retire. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise.
I’m retiring from Tech
After a wild career spanning 3 decades, I am retiring from the world of Tech to focus full-time on my creative pursuits.
